A smile fell in the grass.
\nIrretrievable!<\/p>\n

Such pure leaps and spirals\u2014
\nSurely they travel<\/p>\n
The world forever, I shall not entirely
\nSit emptied of beauties, the gift<\/p>\n
Of your small breath, the drenched grass
\nSmell of your sleeps, lilies, lilies.<\/p>\n
Their flesh bears no relation.
\nCold folds of ego, the calla,<\/p>\n
And the tiger, embellishing itself\u2014
\nSpots, and a spread of hot petals.<\/p>\n
The comets
\nHave such a space to cross,<\/p>\n
Such coldness, forgetfulness.
\nSo your gestures flake off —-<\/p>\n
Warm and human, then their pink light
\nBleeding and peeling<\/p>\n
Through the black amnesias of heaven.
\nWhy am I given<\/p>\n
These lamps, these planets
\nFalling like blessings, like flakes<\/p>\n
Six sided, white
\nOn my eyes, my lips, my hair<\/p>\n
Touching and melting.
