Card of the Day: James Wanless, Voyager, Devil’s Play

The Universe just wrote you a note to excuse you from school, work, and all those other responsibilities!  Take the day off – really off, not calling in sick to work to catch up on work at home.  Finish reading this post, then turn off the computer, grab a friend (or two or six) and head out into the world! Put the top down on the convertible, pop open a bottle of something bubbly (hold the alcohol until the car is stopped), and go play!

Moderation in all things – including moderation. Sometimes you just have to let loose, have fun, and revel in the sheer joy of being alive.  Nothing succeeds like excess – let go and get playful!

We Now Resume Our Regularly Scheduled Messages

Please accept our apologies for the random and multiple tweets spewing forth the last few days. We’ve been using Twuffer to queue the Card of the Day messages, and sometime on Tuesday, Twuffer had a serious meltdown.  The messages scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday didn’t go out as set – but did go out randomly on Wednesday night and Thursday, sometimes multiple times.

We’ve switched to Twaitter and hope that it is more manageable.

Thanks for your patience!

Card of the Day: Ellen Lorenzi-Prince, Tarot of the Crone, 9 of Cups

Yesterday we released fear and shed illusions.  Loss, even the loss of negative or limiting factors, requires healing.  Today we turn to the feminine spirit within us, and within our community and world, and find healing and renewal.

Healing is a mystery. No one knows how it works, or why. It is a sacred gift, to be accepted with gratitude and grace.  You don’t have to deserve to be healed, or earn the right to be healed; you simply ask for grace, and you are healed.

Today, be open to grace, accept the healing, and channel that energy in all you do.

Emotional balance is the key today. Light and shadow alter the appearance of the mountains, but do not change the mountains themselves. Do not mistake appearance for reality. Is the grass really greener on the other side of the fence? Or is it just spray paint on withered turf?

Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real.

Swim in, swim out – beware of swimming in circles in your own emotions and thinking.

Voyager, Woman of Cups

Card of the Day: James Wanless, Voyager Tarot, Woman of Cups

Too often we allow ourselves to be bogged down in the day-to-day stuff of life – the daily dailiness, I call it.  We wait for the special occasion or the unexpected event to lift us out of our ruts and reconnect with our joy.

Every day life contains much joy, if we look for it.  Waking up in a comfortable bed at the beginning of a beautiful summer day.  Freshly brewed tea or coffee, or juice, to accompany a breakfast from the earth’s bounty. Putting on clothes which are comfortable to wear, expressing our individuality. Being able to move, breathe, speak, hear, taste, touch – all of these amazing abilities, experiences, and opportunities which we muddle through in a haze and a hurry, somehow missing out on the amazing abundance of joy and contentment available.  All we need to do is to pay attention.

“But”, I hear you say, “but my life is terrible. I’m broke / unemployed / sick / stressed.  I hate my job / house / roommate.”  Life is never going to be perfect. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you’ll be able to get on with what is really important.  There will always be bumps, obstacles, unexpected events, and tragedies.  You can’t do anything about that – it’s how the universe works.

However, you can start each day with an attitude of joy, and gratitude, no matter your circumstances.  If nothing else, you have before you one whole day – 24 hours – in which to live, love, laugh, learn.  Starting from a place of joy instead of a place of dread won’t change the external events of the day, but it will help you deal with whatever happens from a position of stability and strength.

Joy comes from within. You can be joyful, even in negative circumstances. Feel joy, be joy, share joy today.

Wheel of Change, Ace of Wands

Card of the Day: Alexandra Genetti, Wheel of Change, Ace of Wands

This fiery card seems so appropriate for the high summer season here in Northern Hemisphere.  What do you need to begin? You’ve had plenty of time to think, to plan, to consider – now it’s time to do.

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”  William Hutchinson Murray

Do It Yourself!

Yes, the economy is a mess, and not close to the recovery everyone wants to see.

Yes, the poliitical world is filled with unrest, deception, and stupidity.

Yes, people are being laid off, losing their health insurance, losing their homes, battling cancer, dealing with debt, depression, and death.

And, yet.

You must go on.

You must do your part.

No one is going to fix your life for you.

No one person can do everything, but it is important to do what you can do.

And what you can do is stop whining, get up off the couch, and DO one thing.  One thing.

Make a phone call. Write a letter. Register with a temp agency. Register to vote. Register for a time or money management class (and then actually go to it).

Do your laundry, so you at least have clean clothes when you leave the house.

Check the next item on your to do list, and do it – no matter what it is – clean the kitchen, bathe the dog, discover a cure for AIDS.

Don’t have a to do list? Make one.

I am done with people who have plenty of time to bemoan their circumstances in numerous online groups, and ask for help left and right (and receive plenty of great suggestions and leads), and yet never have the time to try any of the suggestions offered, or even to thank the people who gave them.

Whether in the virtual online world, or sitting around with our friends in the physical world, it’s far too easy to spend time moaning about fate and whining about how unfair the world is, and how everything is so awful, there’s no point, so you might as well eat more ice cream and take another FaceBook quiz, because, really, what can you do?

You can do any number of things.

Don’t know what to do?  Pick a card, let it suggest an action, and then do it.

Talking about it is not doing it.  Planning to do it is not doing it.

You must actually make the effort and do it.

So do something already!

Tarot Class with James Ricklef on June 28, 2009!

Filed Under Events | 2 Comments

A great new Tarot class with the gifted James Ricklef!

When doing Tarot readings, it is common to deal a “good” card into a problematic spread position (i.e., “Your challenges” or “What is blocking you” etc.) … and vice versa. Making sense of this situation is a tough challenge for many Tarot readers, so this workshop will lead you through some exercises that will show you how to see the good side of “bad” cards and the bad side of “good” cards.

Then, as an added bonus, we will also explore a relationship healing exercise. You will use what you learned about the good side of “bad” cards to find the good side of “bad” people.

Since we will be doing hands-on exercises with the Tarot, bring your favorite Tarot deck. And prepare yourself to be surprised by what you find in cards that you thought you already knew all about.

This workshop will last about two hours and will be on Sunday, June 28 from 4PM — 6PM at James’ home in Studio City, CA. The cost is $25 per person. You can contact James directly to send your resume! to reserve your place – and then add a comment to share your experience of the class!
