The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Today’s Draw: Hymir & Hrod/Five of Swords; Raido; Bergelmir/Six of Swords.
We have the same cards as Saturday’s reading, and yesterday’s rune. Sometimes, the oracles are quite subtle. This is not one of those times.
Bergelmir rides out the flood from the safety of his boat. Raido takes you for a ride on a horse. Hymir and Hrod stand in the flood waters where Muspellheim and Niflheim meet. Where are you standing, and where do you need to go? How will you get there?
Look at all that water. All that emotional energy bursting forth, requiring release and recognition. The airy intellect of the swords will help you channel it so you can use it to move forward and make changes, rather than being overwhelmed and drowning in the intensity.
Your day may bring surprises varying between delight and distress. Remain calm, and use your brain to devise creative responses to the situations. You may not have a lot of time to plan, but take the time you have, and use it to make good decisions.
Mind over matter, air over water. Find the balance you need to stay afloat.

Today’s fortune cookie reminded me:
For all my friends and readers who will be at PantheaCon 2016, let’s spend some time together!
I am presenting two workshops! The first one, “The Futhark and Beyond“, is Friday night. If you are familiar with the Norse Runes, you know the 24 Runes of the Elder Futhark. Beyond that, there are the Younger Futhorc, The Anglo-Saxon Runes, and the Northumbrian Runes. Also, there are some random medieval Runes designated for magical purposes! Suddenly, we have 41 magical symbols to work with–which also conveniently spell words that can be used to create further magic! We’ll mention a few other systemss. Come venture with me through the Aetts and meet the Runes old and new–or would that be old and older?
On Sunday, my second workshop is in the afternoon. “Bind Runes for Magical and Practical Purposes” is a hands-on workshop in creating these highly useful items. While you can combine runes to create words (who doesn’t like spelling their name in other alphabets?), runes can also be combined to join their energies for magical purposes. Bind runes can be used to create talismans to empower the wearer with good health, cleverness, strength, and other qualities. Runes can also be combined to create a symbol of personal power, or even as a way of marking your possessions so others know the owner of that cup, dagger, or other very cool object. We will create our own talismansm. You can also bring a special object for talisman creation
It’s been a few years since I’ve been able to make PantheaCon work into my schedule, so I’m extra-excited about being there this year!
See you there!

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Today’s Draw: Sunna/The Sun; Raido; Kolga/Six of Cups.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, energetically or emotionally, today is the day the ice melts. Be prepared to move, to think quickly, to act quickly, to take advantage of new possibilities.
Sunna melts Kolga’s ice, freeing the emotional energy that’s been trapped in whatever we have been stuck in–anxiety, depression, indecision, anger. Whatever it is, it’s coming out today. Ground yourself so that you manage the emotional energy in a constructive manner, channeling it into change and progress, rather than simply lashing out. Use the energy instead of being overwhelmed by it. Think about what is going on, process your emotions, then speak. Things will go much better if you do them in this order.
Raido is all about movement and change. Ride the wave of energy–think of it as riding a horse, or surfing a wave. You can’t control where it goes, but you can direct it, and use the energy to your advantage.
Be nimble, be quick, and be aware of your emotional state before you jump over that candlestick.

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Today’s Draw: Hymir & Hrod/Five of Swords; Hagalaz; Bergelmir/Six of Swords.
Hagalaz brings disruption, and Bergelmir would agree that a flood is definitely a disruption. You may be overwhelmed by floods of emotions today. That’s just what is happening, so get into your boat and float on the tide. You will reach dry land, but you must keep your head above water. Let rational thought help you manage the emotional tides.
Hymir and Hrod tell you that you will need to make effort to create the connections you seek. You will not find what you need in your comfort zone, so put on your shoes and get out of the house, at least metaphorically. Follow up with those people you have been meaning to contact, send an email, make a phone call, write a letter–whatever it takes to start building the bridges you need to move ahead.
As with Bergelmir, Hymir and Hrod are surrounded by water. Keep your emotions in check, channel them, stop and breathe as often as you need to keep your focus. Today is all about the intellectual abilities of the swords, so keep your cool.

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Today’s Draw: Aurboda/Page of Wands; Isa; Suttung/Six of Coins.
Fire, ice, and earth are all active energies today. Remember to bring in air energy to keep things balanced.
Suttung grounds the reading with all of that earth energy–just look at those coins, rocks, and heavy throne. However, notice Odin in serpent form peering out from the rock. He sneaks past all of Suttung’s defenses, drinks the Mead of Poetry, and seduces Gunnlod, Suttung’s daughter. Don’t get so caught up in defending your material possessions that you lose track of what is truly important–and then lose what is truly important.
Aurboda brings in fiery Wands energy to help you deal with everything today. Whether your journey is physical or otherwise, be prepared for it, and it will go much better. Review your resources, check your packing list, whatever you need to do to prepare for this change must be done. Then spread your wings and fly. You can cover a lot of ground, and gain helpful knowledge, but only if you are well-prepared. Anything less will mean a more complicated process, possible delays, and the diminishment of the opportunity.
Isa appears to be the still center of the reading, but underneath the slick ice is moving water and constant energy. Think about how you can tap into that emotional energy to prepare for and make the most of your journey with Aurboda.
You have much to work with, and you can do much with it, if you are properly prepared.

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Today’s Draw: Sinmora/Queen of Wands; Ansuz; Blodughadda/Ace of Cups.
Blodughadda heralds a tide of emotions that must be dealt with today. Whether you consider the emotions to be positive (joy, love, peacefulness) or negative (anger, despair, hopelessness), they are present and you cannot ignore them. Whatever you need to do in order to deal with them, you must make the time to do that today.
Sinmora encourages you to express your emotions through creative work–dance, sing, play your instruments, write, draw, paint, throw pots, stitch–whatever channel calls to you, pursue it. Creating art takes you out of yourself, and at the same time allows to be in touch with the deepest parts of yourself. Wherever your passion lies, make time for it today.
This will also give you time to hear messages from the Gods, the Universe, and others in your life. Time of intense focus opens you to this kind of contact, and, having sorted out your own stuff, you will be in a more clear and open space where you can truly hear those around you.
Let yourself feel whatever you are feeling, and direct that energy into creative action guided by higher wisdom and interpersonal connections.
Make art, make peace, make happiness.

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Today’s Draw: Sigyn/Temperance; Gebo; The Volva/Four of Swords.
Moderation in all things today; all things. Whatever is preoccupying your thoughts is not something you need to deal with right now. Leave it alone; let it rest.
However, you do have a lot to deal with right now, so focus on those things. Sigyn as Temperance reminds you that you do have the strength, skills, and resources to deal with things. She survived a thousand years in a cave with nothing but a wooden bowl to protect Loki–She really doesn’t want to hear you go on about what you don’t have, or why you can’t accomplish what you need to do. Just don’t go there with Her. She doesn’t expect you to work yourself to death, but She does expect that you will make real effort and push yourself. Growth requires effort, and you need to make that effort today.
Gebo prompts you to think about balance, and take action to create it. Balance is not a static achievement; it shifts from moment to moment, and so you will need to be light on your feet, both physically and mentally, to move with these shifts. Consider carefully what you are choosing to give; are you giving more than is needed, more than is asked for, more than is healthy for you or the recipient? Likewise, consider these questions with what you are being given. A gift is often a blessing, and always a bond. If you can’t accept the bond, don’t accept the gift.

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Today’s Draw: Hrungnir/Seven of Wands; Ear-reversed; Jord/Queen of Coins.
So, that situation you dealt with on Friday? Someone isn’t done with it, and it’s going to come up on today’s agenda. Perhaps someone else doesn’t consider it finished business, or something about it feels incomplete to you. Remain calm, set and maintain your boundaries, and if you are the one making yourself crazy, find a supportive friend to help you sort out your thoughts and feelings.
Ear is reversed, which indicates a speeding-up of action, or at increased activity. The timeline you had in mind last week has been adjusted, either by another person or by circumstances. Remain alert for opportunities, and maintain focus on what changes you may need to make to your plans to keep on track to your goals.
Jord would like to remind you that, no matter how busy you are, or how crazy things around you seem (or are), you still need to take care of yourself. Eat real food, stay hydrated, remember to move and to breathe. Sleep is good. You can’t do your best if you don’t feel your best, so taking care of yourself is not an option.
Take care of yourself so you can take care of your life.

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Today’s Draw: Billing/King of Coins; Ul, reversed; Aurboda/Page of Wands.
It’s not your imagination that you feel tired and depleted today. Ul reversed says you have been putting forth much effort and energy, and it has all caught up to you.
Aurboda is a healer. The card shows her carrying healing herbs from Jotunheim to Vanaheim. She is a messenger, and urges you to look at what you need to heal, and to do whatever that is.
Billing, too, travels between Jotunheim and Vanaheim. He has a home and a family in each place. His job as master of trade is to decide which goods go to which country, and in what quantities. There must be enough in the origin country to sustain its people, and enough sent in trade to the other country to obtain other necessary items.
Look at the various areas of your life to see where you can create more balance. Do you need more time to rest, or more time for creative work? That means you need to spend less time on other activities. See where you can shift just 15 minutes from a less-important activity to a higher priority activity, and see what a difference just 15 minutes can make.
Balance is not static. Creating and maintaining balance is an ongoing process, and will need constant adjustments to adapt as your circumstances change. You need to restore some sanity to your way of being in this world in order to maintain your own sanity.

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Today’s Draw: Loki, Angrboda, & Sigyn/The Lovers; Ehwaz, reversed and Ziu; Utgard-Loki/The Emperor.
Today may require you to choose between two options, neither of which is perfect. Step back and assess the situation–instead of either/or, is there a way to do both/and? Alternatively, you may be in a situation where you are one of the options–do your best, but don’t make promises you can’t keep, or present yourself as other than what you are. Being chosen for the wrong reasons is worse than not being chosen at all.
Ehwaz advises you to stop and truly see the situation as it is. Not as you wish it were, or want it to become, but as it is right now. That person you are trusting–are they really trustworthy? Are you? People are relying on you, and you need to channel Zi and Utgard-Loki here. Do what is right and honorable, for the highest good of all.
Ziu is related to Tyr, and to Zeus, and through Zeus, the power of lightning. And right next to Utgard-Loki, the Emperor. You need to be firmly and quietly in charge of things today, making calm decisions and acting on them confidently and promptly.
There’s a lot going on today, but you have the means and energy to manage it. Put on your coronet and get to work.
